Ainslie's Pavilion is a 5-year project to build a memorial cricket pavilion at Purton CC in memory of Ainslie Duffell, who died in February 2015 after a brave battle with breast cancer. It was launched by her husband, Phil, and son, Alex, who both play at Purton Cricket Club. The poject was inspired by an entry in her journal which expressed her joy at Alex scoring his first century for the club's Under-13s tinged with sadness because she was not there to see it. By that stage, Ainslie was wheelchair bound and the club's current pavilion has poor access/facilities for the disabled. So a plan was hatched to raise sufficient funds to replace the curent building and make sure no other parent, sibling or indeed cricketer should feel excluded in the future. Purton CC is the oldest cricket club in Wiltshire and the aim is to have Ainslie's Pavilion built in time for the club's 200th anniversary in 2020.

Phil Duffell

Phil was married to Ainslie for nearly 17 years, though they were an item for some 12 years before that since meeting at Keele University. Formerly a sports reporter with ITV based in Bristol, Phil is now a freelance journalist and in recent years has appeared on Eurosport as presenter/commentator on the Queensbury Boxing League. A level 2 qualified cricket coach, he coaches at club, district and county level as well as teaching cricket in local primary schools as part of the Chance 2 Shine programme. But since Ainslie's death in February 2015, following a brave 12-year fight against cancer, Phil has dedicated most of his spare time to the Ainslie Pavilion project.

Alex Duffell

A keen cricketer, Alex is in many ways the inspiration behind the Ainslie Pavilion project. When he scored his first century for the club Under-13s in May 2014, his mum wrote in her journal how proud she was of her son, but how sad she was at not being there to witness his achievement in person - by that stage, Ainslie was wheelchair bound and the current cricket club pavilion is not equipped to cater for the disabled. Hence the aim to replace it with something fit for the 21st century. He has played age group cricket for Wiltshire through from Under 10s to the Under 17s side as well as captaining his age group for many years. In recent years he has assisted with coaching both the county and district sides, passing on his experience to others. He has played for Purton CC from the Under-9s right through to the 1st XI. A student at Cardiff University, he tries to fit his university work around cricket (usually in that order!).

Fiona Scott

Fiona is a former work colleague of Phil at both the Swindon Evening Advertiser and ITV West in Bristol. Now a freelance journalist and social media expert, who juggles running her own media/PR company with being a busy mum of three, she was the natural choice to be at the forefront of the Ainslie Pavilion media campaign. A family friend, Fiona was also desperate to contribute something positive in the wake of Ainslie's death, having felt so powerless to help as her cancer took hold.
